Cabin Cruiser Interior & Canvas
Marine · Placida, FL
This walkaround cabin cruiser runs out of the Placida and Boca Grande passes, so she takes real sun and salt. Both the cockpit seating and the hardtop canvas had reached the end of their life at the same time.
We recovered the cockpit and helm seating in durable marine vinyl and refreshed the hardtop canvas, so the whole boat, seats and shade, was renewed in one go.
On a cabin boat, the canvas and the upholstery work as a team: good canvas keeps the sun off the seats, and good seats are worth protecting. Doing both together is how you get the longest life out of each, and how the colors end up actually matching.
The challenge
Coordinating an interior recover and a canvas refresh on one boat so the colors and finish match, while building everything to survive the exposed run out of Gasparilla Sound.
What we did
We recovered the seating in UV- and mildew-resistant marine vinyl over fresh foam, and rebuilt the hardtop canvas in marine-grade fabric with UV-stable thread and stainless hardware, fitted tight to the frame.
The result
A cabin cruiser that looks cared-for from the helm to the hardtop, and is protected against the sun that ages a boat fastest.
Seats and canvas: do them together
When a boat needs both, there is a real advantage to tackling them at once:
- Fresh canvas over old, cracked seats just makes the seats look worse, and the other way around.
- New shade protects a new recover from day one, which is exactly when UV damage would otherwise start.
- You match the colors and finish in one conversation instead of trying to match a job you did two seasons ago.
- It is usually less total downtime than pulling the boat apart twice.
