White Diamond-Stitch Center Console Reupholstery

This center console is a serious fishing platform, and it gets used hard: long runs, salt spray, coolers dragged across the deck. The white vinyl had cracked at the seams and the leaning-post bolsters had flattened out.

The owner wanted to keep it clean and bright but add a custom touch, so we rebuilt the leaning post, console front and bow cushions in white marine vinyl with an even diamond stitch.

White is the boldest choice you can make on a boat, because it shows every flaw and every bit of dirt. That means the build has to be flawless and the material has to be genuinely easy to wipe down, or the owner regrets it by the second trip.

The challenge

Keeping bright white crisp and stain-resistant on a hard-used fishing boat, while patterning a diamond stitch that stays even across the leaning post, console and bow.

What we did

We rebuilt the bolster and cushion foam, hand-patterned the diamonds, and recovered every panel in UV- and mildew-resistant white marine vinyl with UV-stable thread, sealing the seams against water.

The result

A bright, custom-looking center console that is comfortable on a long run and wipes clean at the end of the day.

Keeping white boat seats looking new

White seats are stunning and worth it, if you look after them. What we tell owners:

• Wipe them down with fresh water after every trip, before salt and sunscreen have time to set into the grain.
• Use a cleaner made for marine vinyl, and skip harsh bleach or abrasive pads that break down the protective topcoat.
• Deal with stains the same day. Fresh marks lift easily, baked-in ones are much harder to shift.
• Keep a cover or T-top over them when the boat sits. Shade is what keeps white from yellowing over time.
