Two-Tone Gray & White Helm Seats

The helm is where you spend the whole day on the water, so it is the first seat to wear out and the most important to get right. These back-to-back helm seats had collapsed bolsters and sun-cracked vinyl.

We rebuilt the foam and bolsters for real support, then recovered the seats in a two-tone gray and white scheme with clean lines that lifts the look of the whole cockpit.

A helm seat is as much about comfort as looks. If the foam and bolsters are not rebuilt properly, a beautiful new cover still leaves you sore after an hour at the wheel, so we always start underneath.

The challenge

Restoring real support to collapsed helm bolsters while building a crisp two-tone look that matches the rest of the boat and survives constant sun at the console.

What we did

We rebuilt the seat and bolster foam to the right firmness, then recovered the seats in gray and white marine vinyl with UV-stable thread and reinforced stitching where the bolsters take the most load.

The result

Helm seats that are genuinely comfortable for a long day at the wheel and give the cockpit a clean, custom two-tone finish.

What to check on your own helm seat

Helm seats wear from the inside out. Signs yours is ready for attention:

• You feel the frame or a hard edge through the seat after a while at the wheel, that is packed-down foam.
• The side bolsters have gone soft or lopsided, so you slide around instead of being held in place.
• The vinyl is cracking or the seams are opening where the sun hits hardest.
• Water sits in the cushion long after a rain, a sign the foam is soaked and needs replacing, not just recovering.
