Fitted Center-Console Boat Covers

A boat cover only earns its keep if it fits. These center consoles came to us with baggy universal covers that pooled water, flapped on the highway and had started chafing the gelcoat.

We patterned custom covers to each boat, snug over the console and leaning post, with support so water runs off and vents so moisture does not get trapped underneath.

A cover that fits does three jobs at once: it keeps sun off the upholstery, rain out of the cockpit, and dock grime off everything in between. A cover that does not fit slowly does damage instead of preventing it.

The challenge

Getting a precise fit over a tall console and leaning post so the cover sheds water, survives trailering, and does not chafe the boat.

What we did

We measured and cut each cover to the boat in marine-grade canvas, built in support poles and vents, and finished with UV-stable thread and secure tie-down points.

The result

Covers that fit like they were made for the boat, because they were, and actually protect it between trips.

Getting the most from a boat cover

A good cover is cheap insurance. To make it last and do its job:

• Support the middle so water sheds instead of pooling. A puddle stretches the fabric and eventually finds its way in.
• Let it breathe. Vents keep moisture and mildew from building up in a sealed, humid cockpit.
• Retie it snug before you tow. Highway wind destroys more covers than weather ever does.
• Rinse and dry it before long storage, so you are not sealing salt and grime against the boat for months.
